Ålö attachment manufacturing moving to China
Quicke and Trima parent company, the Ålö Group, has announced it will be closing two of its European plants and moving production of loader attachments to China. The Bergsjo, Sweden, is to close next year, and Skive in Denmark will shut in 2011.
“There are of course a number of advantages to establishing a production facility in Asia,” explains Ålö Group managing director and CEO, Olle Pehrsson. “This decision will again strengthen our competitiveness, give us a solid platform from which to expand, and locate us closer to the markets that we believe will grow significantly over the next ten years.”
As well as attachments the Bergsjo plant currently produces tool carriers and bearing boxes. A decision where these will be produced in the future will be announced in 2010 along with a more detailed timetable for the plant closures.
The Bergsjo plant was originally where Trima products were manufactured before it was acquired by Ålö in 2000.
